What we found
- Created by SB 337 (2024), chapter 280 of the Laws of 2024, signed on 26 July 2024; now RSA 310-A:222. The certification rules are Plc 1900, effective 16 January 2026.
- ⚠ It is VOLUNTARY: it does not restrict who may practise.
- Certification requires a credential from an organisation accredited by the American National Standards Institute, the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, or another recognised accreditation body.
- The certification is meant to make lactation service providers eligible for direct Medicaid reimbursement. We have not verified that New Hampshire Medicaid enrols or pays them.
- ⚠ The Office's own pages refused our automated requests. These facts come from the bill record and from the Office's published pages and rule notices as indexed, not from a direct read.
What this means if you are looking for help
In New Hampshire a state certification for lactation service providers exists, but it is optional, so plenty of good practitioners will not hold it. Treat it as a bonus signal rather than a filter, and check the IBCLC credential either way.
Can a lactation consultant bill Medicaid here?
Whether an IBCLC can enrol with New Hampshire Medicaid and bill it directly is a separate policy question from licensing, and we have only worked through 27 of 51 jurisdictions. A blank here means unchecked, not no — ask your plan directly.
